Born Dec 31, 1830; married Edna Elizabeth Tolah Westbrook Sep 30, 1849; wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga (note missing fingers in photo), Dec 31, 1862; Died Jun 30, 1894 in Murphry's Valley, Blount County, Ala.

1LT William Brown Black, Co. I

1820-1863

Born Sep 11, 1820, Abbeville District, S.C.; married Ellen Cathern Ennis of Cherokee County, Ala, and they had seven children; Enlisted in Co. I in Aug 1861 at age 40; mortally wounded at the Battle of Murfreesboro (Stones River), Dec 31, 1862; Died Jan 19, 1863 of pneumonia; Buried at Lebanon Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery, Spring Garden, Ala.

PVT Paris P. Casey, Co. I

Died in hospital in April 1862 after the Battle of Shiloh.

LT William A. Hoss, Co. I

Enlisted as a Private in Co. H, was promoted to Lieutenant, and transferred to Co. I. Served to surrender. (post-war photo).

Commanded Co. I throughout the war and served to surrender (pre-war photo).

PVT Marcus E. Westbrook, Co. I

1841-1911
Enlisted in Co. I, Aug 10, 1861 at Coloma, AL, age 20. Wounded three times during the war. Was elected Sergeant several times when the need arose, but asked to remain a Private after each emergency was over. Served to surrender.
